Introducing Michigan mittens and long sleeved shirts

Andrew Norton

I'm super excited to announce that we have paired up Lake Is Good® long sleeved t-shirts with unique Michigan Mittens that feature an outline of the Upper Peninsula on one hand and the Lower Peninsula on the other hand. The slogan for Michigan Mittens is "always have a map on hand". I've tried these mittens on and they are easily the softest and warmest mitten I have ever had. They will make a warm and unique gift for anyone on your Christmas list.

Lake Is Good® donates a percentage of their profits to FreshwaterFuture.org in order to help people protect the Great Lakes. These long sleeved shirts are high quality and look great. I practically had to pry one of the pink shirts out of my wife's hands - she loves these!

Edmund Fitzgerald sank 35 years ago today

Andrew Norton

The Edmund Fitzgerald sank November 10, 1975 taking the lives of all 29 crew members on board. It's hard to believe that 35 years have passed since this tragedy and I'm sure it's even hard for the friends and family of the 29 men who died. Here is a roundup of Edmund Fitzgerald posts I have made over the years -

Sparky Anderson 1934 - 2010

Andrew Norton

God Bless you, Sparky. Tell Ernie, we all say 'hi'. Here is Sparky and some of the players from the great 1984 World Series Champions talking about what Sparky meant in their lives, not just what he meant to them in terms of baseball.

A great roundup of Sparky Anderson articles and tributes can be found over at BlessYouBoys.com.

Five Spooky happenings across Michigan this weekend - 10/21 - 10/24

Andrew Norton

It's that time of the year. No, not the time of the year where the department stores put up their Christmas displays in conjunction with the remains of the Halloween displays. Well, they are doing that, but seriously, that's not what this post is about so I'll get back to it :). I want to highlight five fun Halloween related events happening across Michigan this weekend.

  1. Dr. Scream's Spook Show Revival at the historic Riviera Theatre in Three Rivers - October 21 at 7:30pm. A live comedic/spooky magic show will be followed by a screening of the horror classic "Night of the Living Dead."
  2. The Great ZooBoo is still going on at the Binder Park Zoo in Battle Creek. Kids can trick or treat and see magicians, storytellers, and other entertainers.
  3. The Haunted Farm at Wellington Farm Park near Grayling will feature "depression-era" spooks and goblins 10/22-23 and 10/28-30.
  4. The S.S. City of Milwaukee Ghost Ship 10/22-23 and 10/29-30.
  5. The Farm Center at Wolcott Mill Metropark in Ray Township is offering a Trick or Treat event this Saturday, October 23rd from 6-9pm. Also, on 10/22 and 10/23 there are Halloween Haunting activities from 6pm to 8pm.
