In honor of blueberry picking time in Michigan

Andrew Norton

It's that time of the year here in Michigan when the local blueberry patch has bushes that are so heavy laden with berries that they appear blue themselves at first glance. Blueberries are probably my favorite berry grown in Michigan. No hulling is required like strawberries and no big seeds that get stuck in your teeth like raspberries. Just wash, eat, and enjoy.

Going with a blueberry theme, I thought I would highlight our Blueberry Gift Basket. It makes a perfect gift any time of the year for fans of blueberries all across the country.

Wow, it's been a busy month

Andrew Norton

I knew this was probably our busiest April we have ever had. But it wasn't until I went to post an article today that I realized how busy it has been. I haven't posted and article since the end of March! With all of the news about the rest of the nation catching up to Michigan's one state recession I hardly expected to turn out our busiest April ever as far as gift basket sales. It turns out, we did and the month isn't even over yet. We must be doing something right. :)

So, the increased business and the excellent weather that has been singing it's siren song to me each afternoon has contributed to the complete lack of posts this month.

I'll try and keep up with things from here on out ;)

We are closed March 5th - 7th

Andrew Norton

Just a quick note to let everyone know that we are closed Wednesday, March 5th, through Friday, March 7th. Any gift baskets ordered after 5 p.m. tomorrow, March 4th, and Monday, March 10th will ship March 11th. We've already sent this information out to our past customers and wanted to offer another venue for this announcement.

Also, don't forget that Daylight Saving Time takes place this weekend. You'll have to set your clocks forward (Spring forward) an hour so theoretically you will be "losing" an hour of sleep. It evens out come the fall when you set your clocks back an hour. It's going to be tough getting up in the early morning again since it will be black as night instead of the ever increasing daylight we've been enjoying in the morning.

USPS to raise postage rates again this May

Andrew Norton

I don't know about anyone else, but I still have a few $.39 stamps and even a $.37 stamp that I have yet to use. On May 12, 2008 the Postal Service is again raising rates for stamps up a penny to $.42. It looks like they will most likely be raising their rates across the board merely one year after the last increase. We will unfortunately have to monitor any changes to Priority Mail (said to be announced in March) as that could possibly affect our shipping rates. I hate having to raise prices of any kind, but we just might have to raise the shipping rates in May. We'll keep you posted.

Why sending our Michigan Gift Baskets is a good thing

Andrew Norton

With only 1 Week remaining (for standard shipping) until the Christmas shipping deadline I thought I would catch my breath a moment between filling gift basket orders and give the Top Five Reasons for sending our Michigan Gift Baskets at Christmas and throughout the year -

  1. Give a gift that gives back all year long. We donate 1% of each sale to the Food Bank Council of Michigan and they sorely need the help with Michigan's economy still going poorly.
  2. Who likes wrapping presents? We can take care of the wrapping and shipping for you.
  3. 3 Day Shipping starts at $8.95. Great price for a quick trip on everything you ship.
  4. Unique gourmet Michigan products and our flagship Michigan Crates will be more memorable than the plaid socks you got your dad last Christmas.
  5. We enclose a gift card at no additional cost in each gift basket. You would be surprised how many gift basket companies charge extra for this service.

PS A great gift idea for families, clients, or just your run of the mill sweet tooth is the Staff Favorites Gift Box.

Michigan crate from Tastes of Michigan gift basket now available

Andrew Norton

Many of you have expressed an interest in simply purchasing the Michigan crate that holds all of the goodies in our Tastes of Michigan Gift Basket. Well, we have listened and the Michigan Crate is available (albeit without the yummy goodies). Michigan Mitten Crate

For $24 you can have your very own Michigan mitten crate or send it with whatever you want inside as a gift. We make these crates right here in our wood shop. Evidently some people have asked and, no, we do not outsource these from China or anywhere else.

Just like the rest of our products we are proud to offer - it's made right here in Michigan.
