Christmas Gift Baskets are here

Andrew Norton

We have uploaded our Christmas Gift Basket selection and have a couple more that will be made available in the next few weeks. We've added some new products to our excellent lineup of Michigan products - Cinnamon Roasted Pecans (oh man, these are great!), Honey Mustard, Gourmet Butter Twist Pretzels (even tastier when dunked in the Honey Mustard), Blueberry Muffin Mix, Cherry Muffin Mix, and assorted candies from Sanders. View our Christmas-themed gift baskets.

Our 2007 Christmas Shipping Calendar is also updated and you can view it here. Basically, the last day you can order a basket with Priority Mail shipping is December 17th as we will need to ship the gift baskets no later than December 18th to ensure a Christmas delivery.

November's Featured Basket is the Quick & Easy Gift Box. From now until November 30th shipping is included in the price of this basket.

Quick and Easy Gift Box

The Quick and Easy Gift Box is a great gift whether you are shopping for someone who can be difficult to shop for or someone who is easy to please. Delicious cinnamon roasted pecans, chocolate gold rush popcorn (caramel corn with regular and white chocolate drizzled throughout), dried blueberries, butter rum coffee, honey mustard and butter twist pretzels fill this box to the top. - $36.79

Buy your Christmas gift baskets now - we'll ship them Dec. 18th

Andrew Norton

We added this feature to our store last year and it was met with great success. A lot of folks took advantage of purchasing their Christmas gift baskets early and choosing the option to ship them closer to Christmas. We are offering this feature once again. Starting today, you can place your orders for Christmas and when you check out there is an option to have us wait and ship them on December 18th. This will give your orders plenty of time to arrive at their destinations by Christmas.

Christmas Shipping Option

The benefit to you is you don't have to wait until later to order your gifts. Order now with the knowledge that you can cross a few people off of your list and we'll send you the tracking information on December 18th so you can "watch" your gift basket(s) arrive at the recipient's door.

Our Christmas-themed gift baskets will be up by the end of the week so be sure to come back and check out what we have to offer this year. We have quite a few new treats for you this year and we can't wait to share!

The Post Office is closed on Monday, October 8

Andrew Norton

Shipment of some gift baskets will be delayed due to the Post Office being closed in observance of Columbus Day on October 8. The Michigan's Best gift basket will not be affected by this as we ship that via UPS due to its weight and size. Pretty much every other gift basket is affected though. We will ship right away Tuesday, October 9, in the morning. The next holiday for the Post Office is November 12 in observance of Veteran's Day.

If you have never heard of or been to Cherry Republic

Andrew Norton

Tucked away in the gorgeous lakeside burg of Glen Arbor is an empire known as the Cherry Republic. Bob Sutherland started Cherry Republic with the crazy idea that he could make a living by selling only cherry related products. Well, it seems to be working for him and I have to say that whenever I am anywhere near Glen Arbor I have to stop there and breath in the ambiance of this quaint little empire while grazing through the tasty cherry products. We carry a few of the Cherry Republic products in our gift baskets. You can find Boomchuggalugga Cherry Soda in the Very Cherry Basket and the Michigan's Best Gift Basket. Totally addictive chocolate covered dried (nothing dry about these cherries - trust me) cherries appear in various baskets along with Cherry Sour Patch Candies (kind of like sour gummy worms).

The saddest part of my week has been the notice that Cherry Republic is no longer making Baby Boomchunkas which were awesome little bite-size chocolate chunk cookies with dried cherries and pecans baked right in. Now I must search for a replacement cherry product of some kind, but that is a fun task due to the taste-testing nature of making sure I get a quality product.

Oh, one other item that appears in nearly every basket are Cherry Wafer Crackers. We add these to each basket that contains preserves because they go so well together. They bake thin slices of cherries directly into the crackers. Yum!

Well, if any of you haven't been to Cherry Republic and you want to "experience" their unique Glen Arbor store I found this video on YouTube. It is neat to see the quirky signs that dot the stores and garden area and to hear how Bob Sutherland worked to create what exists today.

Hey, we're back - so long summer

Andrew Norton

We visited Michigan's beautiful U.P. over the weekend and I have to say that just like summer - it went by far too fast. I've been busy today getting out everyone's orders from the weekend (don't worry, they all went out today just like I promised :) ) so I haven't had time to post much today. I plan on downloading a ton of pictures that I took and hope to share some of them with you tomorrow. The U.P. received some much needed rain yesterday as we were driving home from Escanaba. I have to say, that was some of the heaviest rain I have driven through in quite some time.

The Mining Journal reports that most of the U.P. received at least .75 inches with the Newberry area (just south of the area affected by the Sleeper Lake Forest Fire) getting over 4 inches of much needed precipitation. That rain will definitely help those still fighting the blaze.

I had wanted to get some pictures of the Sleeper Lake Forest Fire damage yesterday, but the weather (thankfully for those in the U.P.) did not cooperate. We had a great time and enjoyed the scenery as well as the cool nights (natural air conditioning).
