Michigan gas prices bump up a couple cents

Andrew Norton

Today's average price of gas in Michigan is up a couple of cents from last week at $2.176. One month ago the average price of regular unleaded in Michigan stood at $2.274. One year ago we were paying $2.59 on average across the state of Michigan. OPEC recently decided to cut oil production by 1.2 million barrels of oil per day so who knows if gas will dip below the $2 threshold.

Michigan gas prices down a few pennies

Andrew Norton

The average price for a gallon of unleaded gas in Michigan has dropped a few cents down to $2.157. There was a hiccup in prices last week as we saw southwest Michigan gas prices jump from $2.18 up to $2.25. For some unknown reason gas stations dropped their prices over the weekend. Not sure why, but I'll take it. Gas price data courtesy of AAA's Fuel Gauge Report.

Michigan gas prices hold steady

Andrew Norton

The average price of gas in Michigan inched up from last Monday's $2.181 to a statewide average of $2.19. Here in southwest Michigan, last week was the first week in about a month that gas prices actually increased. Was it in anticipation of a beautiful weekend and the hope of catching some fall travelers that gas went up? Well, if gas prices continue to bounce up a bit that might shoot down the theory some folks have that the lower gas prices are a ploy by Republicans hoping to fetch more votes with lower gas prices.

How low will Michigan gas prices go?

Andrew Norton

Michigan gas prices are now averaging $2.181 for regular unleaded. I was up north at the end of last week and even up in Mackinaw City I was able to fill up for $2.19 a gallon. The town with the highest price on my trip? Traverse City clocked in at $2.249 a gallon all over town. Will gas prices dip under the $2 per gallon threshold or will OPEC and the big oil companies squeeze the supply to raise prices?

Michigan gas prices continue going down, down, down

Andrew Norton

The average price for a gallon of gas in Michigan is down to $2.203 as of today, September 25, 2006. Over the weekend I saw gas as low as $2.14 (in Sturgis). On most of our drive down U.S. 12 over to Clinton gas was going for $2.16. One month ago gas was as high as $2.805. Will gas do the unthinkable and dip under $2? How long will this reprieve last?

Down, down, down go Michigan gas prices

Andrew Norton

Gas prices across Michigan are averaging $2.303 per gallon this week (9/18/06). Here in southwest Michigan the price that I keep seeing is $2.27 for regular unleaded. As little as one month ago we were paying $2.921 here in Michigan. One year ago the price of fuel was at $2.733.

Once again the pundits and "experts" are making predictions about future gas prices. It is not a question of how high they will go, but of how low they will go. I read somewhere last week that someone is predicting that gas will go as low as $1.15 per gallon.

I highly doubt that will happen. With the drastic drop in gas prices at the pump I have already heard the OPEC rumblings about how to stop the plummeting prices for a barrel of oil.

The recent price drop is nice and I have low expectations for the price drop to continue for too much longer. Hopefully I will be pleasantly surprised.

Happy Monday! :)
